For at least 250 years, the Bocksbeutel has been the traditional bottle for Franconian wine.
Initially it was used for the most esteemed and finest wine, Würzburger Stein, and later for other Franconian wines too.
In 1728, the city council of
Würzburg decreed that the finest wines
from the city's Bürgerspital
should be bottled in Bocksbeutel. Since 2009, a new regulation has also required wines bottled in Bocksbeutel to achieve a minimum score
of 2.0 in the official quality wine inspection.

FRANKEN - Whisky
Whisky production began in Gernach near Schweinfurt in 2007, founded by Alban Weilhöfer and Lothar Meißner. Carefully selected malts and casks provide the basis for its fruity, malty and mellow flavour. It is distilled in a small still typical of Franconia. The flavour and colour come solely from maturation in wooden casks.
